Police have confirmed there was nothing suspicious about a reported kidnapping in Strood.

A lane in Roman Way was cordoned off for several hours on Thursday, July 12, after a caller said a youth had been put in a car, apparently against his will.

However, police said: "Following our appeal for information, officers have been able to establish that no crime has been committed.

"Kent Police would like to thank the public for their help."
