Suspected shoplifter charged with theft from shops in Strood

A suspected serial shoplifter has been charged with trying to steal more than £280 worth of razor blades.

Toni Cooney, of no fixed address, has also been charged with seven counts of theft from a shop in Strood High Street after cosmetics were reported missing.

The shoplifting offences took place at the same business between November 11 and January 6.

The 29-year-old was also charged with the attempted theft after a supermarket in Strood reported a woman was trying to steal razor blades.

Cooney appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court on Monday via a video link where she was remanded in custody.

She is due to appear before the same court on Wednesday, January 18.
