A teenager has been arrested after a man was stabbed in the back and arm during a row at a Chatham house party.

The 26-year-old victim is recovering in hospital today after being seriously injured in Fort Pitt Street.

He was flown to King's College Hospital, in London, with head, arm and thorax injuries.

The arrested man, 19, was held in connection with the assault and has been bailed pending further investigations.

Emergency services were called to the scene after the man was seriously injured.

The victim - who has not been named, but is from the Medway Towns - remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Officers said they believed the incident involved a group of people who know each other.

Crime scene investigators were also seen carrying out investigators in a flat where the stabbing is said to have happened.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police has made an arrest in connection with a report of a serious assault in Fort Pitt Street, Chatham.

"Officers attended at just after 8am on Saturday, August 30, an incident involving a group of people known to each other.

"A man suffered injuries and remains in a stable condition in hospital.

"A 19-year-old local man has been arrested and bailed until October pending further investigation."
