Police and ambulance in King Street, Gillingham after teenager injured in hit-and-run

A teenager has been hurt in a hit-and-run.
Both South East Coast Ambulance Service and the police have confirmed they were called to a collision yesterday in King Street, Gillingham, at approximately 6pm.
Police say a pedestrian was hit by a car which fled the scene.
Kent Police spokesman Jo Pattison said: "Kent Police was called at around 6.20pm on Wednesday, January 22 to reports of a collision in King Street, Gillingham, between a car and a pedestrian.
"Officers attended the scene alongside the South East Coast Ambulance Service where a vehicle had failed to stop.
"A teenager was taken to hospital with leg injuries.
"Inquiries into the incident are ongoing."
The ambulance service said it believed the injured person was a cyclist.
Spokesman Rich Airey said: “We were called at approximately 6.10pm yesterday to reports of an RTC (road traffic collision) involving a bicycle.
“Ambulance crews attended the scene and the cyclist was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with injuries, including a leg injury.”
