Witnesses described how teeth were left on the ground after man suffered a broken jaw in a fight at a petrol station.

Police were called just after 12.30pm on Friday August 13 to the Co-op in Anthonys Way on the Medway City Estate, following a report of an altercation between two men.

Officers attended and one man was taken to Medway hospital for treatment to injuries, which police said were "not described as life threatening."

One witness who attended the petrol station shortly after the incident said a transit van with a pallet on the back had been left at the station and people were milling around nearby.

"They'd put some red cones out and I could actually see some teeth on the ground," he said."Inside someone asked what happened and they said a fellow in a van hit this other fellow twice in the face. They put him in an ambulance.

"According to her he had a fractured jaw and had lost some teeth."

Police say no arrests have yet been made, and enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

A Co-op spokesperson said: “Two customers in our Anthonys Way, Rochester store had a personal argument while shopping with us last Friday. The store manager asked them to take it outside, where a fight subsequently took place and left one man bleeding with a broken jaw.

"Colleagues at the store called for police and an ambulance and made sure the injured customer was comfortable while they waited for help.

"The store continued to operate as normal once the scene had been cleared. Colleagues who witnessed or attended the incident haven’t been affected but can access support if they need it."
