Four years after the tragic death of their daughter, a couple have achieved their dream of buying a holiday home to help other children with leukaemia.

Donna and Jon Reeve set up the Milly Moo Right Now Foundation after three-year-old Amelia, nicknamed Milly Moo, lost her battle with the disease in May 2010.

The charity was created with the aim of buying a caravan where little ones, along with their parents and siblings, could enjoy a much-needed break during treatment.

The husband and wife team had hoped to have enough funds to buy the property later this year. But in the same week that they marked the anniversary of Amelia’s death, the opportunity came up to buy a new caravan with the money they had already raised.

Mr and Mrs Reeve collected the keys to the eight-berth static home at Allhallows Leisure Park on Monday and plan to welcome their first guests in June.

Mrs Reeve, 29, of Lodge Hill Lane, Chattenden, said: “The last week has been so amazing but very emotional. I think we are still in shock, it has all happened so quickly.

“We came up to visit the park to look at prices and by chance saw this caravan that was within our budget.”

She added: “To have raised what we have in the time we have is amazing and we can’t thank people enough for their support.

“It has been such a hard, emotional rollercoaster for the whole family. But it has been lovely having Amelia’s charity and being able to talk about her.

“We are so excited to start welcoming families. So far it has been all about fundraising but it is nice to know we will be helping families now.”

The couple, who have two other children – Jimmy, four, and Poppy, three, will be working with hospitals across Kent.

Families will be referred by a cancer nurse and will be able to enjoy a completely free holiday at the Haven-run caravan park.

Mrs Reeve said: “We always went on Haven holidays with Amelia and she thought they were the best thing in the world. She loved the characters and having a dance at the discos.

"We have lots of happy memories and we want to help other families create those precious memories too.”
