A friend of a pregnant young mum who died suddenly has teamed up with The Voice finalist Jamie Johnson to record a song in her memory.

Jade Glen, 22, died in May when she was eight months pregnant. Her 18-month-old son Mickey was with her when she collapsed at her parents’ home in Cobham Rise, Gillingham.

After her death, more than 100 family and friends gathered at Rookery Fields park in Woodlands Road, Gillingham, to release paper lanterns in her memory, and hundreds of touching messages were left on a Facebook tribute page.

Now one of her friends, James Hutch, has written a song about Jade and her unborn daughter Dolly, who died with her. The song, called Stars, features Jamie Johnson, who made it to the final of The Voice earlier this year.

Rapper James, 23, said: Jade would love the song. I was really close with Jade when she was going though a hard time. I’m so pleased that I have been able to do this in her memory.

“Her family have always been there for me and this is my way of giving something back to them.” Shooting for the video will take place this weekend and will feature Jade’s son Mickey.

Jade’s dad, Floyd, said: “It is such a lovely thing for James to do. The song is perfect. We love it. We play it at home and Mickey dances along.”

Jade had previously been treated for a suspected blood clot on her lung but following her death on May 26, a postmortem proved inconclusive.

Further tests revealed Jade’s organs were healthy and there were no traces of drugs or alcohol in her system, so her family will never know why she died.

The cause of death has been recorded as “sudden unexpected death in a gravid [pregnant] female”. Because Jade died of natural causes, an inquest will not take place.

Jade, a former New Brompton College pupil, was found dead on the bathroom floor by her dad, after her boyfriend Michael Arnold raised the alarm when he could not get hold of Jade on the phone.

The song is due to be released at the beginning of September.
