Three Peaks trio at the top of Ben Nevis

A trio of intrepid Medway Messenger reporters have completed their Three Peaks Challenge.

Keyan Milanian, Jenni Horn and Sarah Shaffi tackled the epic charity effort to raise money for CPC Kent.

The three have spent weeks preparing for their trek, which saw them set off to Fort William in Scotland on Friday, just after Sarah and Jenni had finished covering the general election count in Medway, ahead of climbing Ben Nevis on Saturday morning.

The trio arrived at the top of Ben Nevis (pictured) before 10am, and then headed for Cumbria to climb Scafell Pike followed by Snowdon in north Wales. They finished the climb today, Sunday.

The three aimed to raise £1,500 for the charity in Cliffe Woods which cares for the disabled and elderly and runs the Smiley Steps Centre, which helps children under five who have cerebral palsy.

So far the reporters, who have spent 10 weeks in training for the challenge, have managed to double that amount and raised around £3,000.

Keyan said: ““The three of us, plus all the other climbers, are raising lots of money for the charity, and that’s what we thought about when it got really hard.

"We are all shattered but glad to have finished and we're looking forward to getting home for nice hot baths."

CPC Kent took a total of 11 people on the challenge. To donate, go to www.justgiving.co.uk/messengerclimb
