A vicious thug who beat his ex-girlfriend and attacked a police officer who came to arrest him is behind bars.

Christopher Kelly, 39, of Marshall Path, Thamesmead, punched his partner in the face as they sat in a car in Darnley Road, Strood, on Thursday, February 8.

He fled the scene before officers arrived.

Christopher Kelly has been jailed for assaulting his ex and a police man (10894157)

They spoke to the victim who explained Kelly had assaulted her and thrown her phone out of a window days before.

The next day two officers went to Kelly's home to arrest him. He then attacked one, injuring his neck.

At Maidstone Crown Court on Monday he admitted two counts of assault and one count of assaulting an officer. He was jailed for 20 months.

Investigating officer PC Harry Lewis said: "Kelly inflicted painful and serious injuries on his former partner leaving her anxious and fearful.

"His violent reaction towards the officer attending his home was not only unnecessary, but resulted in additional prison time being added to his sentence.

"Assaulting an officer who is simply just doing their job is just as unacceptable as attacking a former partner and the custodial sentence imposed by the courts is a reflection of the severity of the offences that Kelly committed."
