Motorists faced a 45 minute wait to get through Gillingham after a level crossing failed.

At 8.30am a signalling problem meant the barriers across Ingram Road remained stuck in the down position.

An operations manager went to the crossing to carry out repairs and police were informed to manage traffic and get information out to road users.

Traffic was queued back along the road and the barriers were fixed by 9.13am.

A spokeswoman for Network Rail said: "We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. The barrier are now back to working order."
