Traffic delays in Gillingham due to distressed man on bridge

The M2 motorway is getting back to normal after police dealt with an incident.

A man was reported to be standing on Forge Lane Bridge, Bredhurst.

Police closed the M2 coming both ways leading to traffic queued all the way back to Rochester.

All roads have now re-opened.

Police spokesman James Walker said: " Kent Police was called to concerns for the welfare of a distressed man seen on a bridge above the M2, close to junction 4, at 1.13pm on Monday 30 July.

"Officers attended the scene and enforced a full closure to ensure public safety.

"By 1.46pm the man had been brought to safety and the motorway has re-opened."
