A schoolgirl has been hit by a car in Gillingham.

Police were called to Pier Approach Road just after 5.30pm after reports a pedestrian had been run over by a vehicle.

Officers and paramedics are currently at the scene and the girl, reported to be of school age, is being checked over.

It is not known how serious her injuries are.
