Travellers converged on a beauty spot at the weekend.
About 10 large caravans pitched up in the main car park, cafe and toilets area of Riverside Country Park in Rainham, on Saturday morning.
It is believed they arrived on Friday evening and were still there this morning.
The award-winning nature reserve is popular with dog walkers, joggers and cyclists and is particularly busy with people keen to get outdoor exercise during lockdown.
The Medway Council-run recreation area off Lower Rainham Road is situated alongside the River Medway estuary between Gillingham and Rainham.
It spans 247 acres, which includes mudflats, salt marsh, grassland and scrub, and is a haven for wildlife.
The council's head of regulatory services, James Brown, said: “We are following a civil legal process to move the group on as quickly as possible.”
