Trespassers on the railway between Rainham and Gillingham

There have been delays on trains because people were seen walking on the line.

Thameslink reported 15 minute delays from its trains from Rainham station because of the incident.

In a tweet the rail operator said had it happened between Rainham and Gillingham and the line was briefly blocked.

Passengers were updated at 7.30am this morning to say the line was now clear but it was still causing problems.

A tweet said: "There is no need to change your travel plans but please allow a bit of extra time if you are travelling from Rainham.

"Our control team are working to get all trains back on time."

At 8am , it was reported that services were running as normal.
