Two charged after man robbed of phone and watch in Canterbury Street, Gillingham

Two men have been charged with robbery after a man was knocked over and had his phone and watch stolen.
Ahmed Khalifi and Mahmoud Bahnasi were arrested after police were called to a report that a man was robbed of his phone and watch in Canterbury Street, Gillingham.
The incident happened at around 2.40am on Sunday, May 12.
The victim told police he knocked over when he was walking along Canterbury Street at the junction with Green Street, Gillingham.
The man, in his 30s, reported that he was approached by men who tried to take his mobile phone.
His phone was knocked to the floor, and as the victim tried to pick it up, he was assaulted.
The man’s phone and watch were recovered by police.
Police carried out a search of the area and located the two suspects.
Khalifi, 20, of no fixed address, has been charged with robbery and criminal damage caused to a police cell.
Bahnasi, 18, of Alexandra Avenue, Gillingham, has been charged with robbery.
Both have been remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
