Two vehicle crash on Blue Bell Hill, Chatham, is now back open after earlier gridlock at the Lord Lees roundabout

A road is now open after a two vehicle crash caused gridlock at the top of Blue Bell Hill, in Chatham.

The emergency services were called out to the A229 at about 1.40pm this afternoon after the two cars collided on the Maidstone-bound carriageway near the Lord Lees roundabout.

Police and paramedics were called out to deal with the crash which happened near Common Road.

It is understood no one suffered serious injuries during the smash, but the incident did lead to heavy tailbacks in the area.

A police spokesman said: “Motorists were advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes.”

The road was reopened at about 3.30pm.
