Two people rescued from house fire in Queen Street, Chatham

Fire crews rescued two people from a house blaze in Chatham in the early hours of this morning.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to the house in Queen Street, Chatham after smoke was seen billowing from the property.
A woman in her 20s was seen in a first floor window and was led to safety after firefighters entered the house using a ladder.
Crews then entered the building wearing breathing apparatus to start a search not knowing if any further residents were in the house.
They discovered a man thought to be in his mid to late 20s unconscious in a first floor bedroom.
The male adult regained consciousness when out of the building and both casualties were removed to hospital by the ambulance service due to both suffering from smoke inhalation.
The fire is believed to have started accidentally in the kitchen and spread to the upper bedroom.
There was severe fire damage to the ground floor kitchen and first floor bedroom and the rest of the house was significantly damaged by smoke and heat.
