Campaigners for Amazon worker rights have gathered outside Rochester Cathedral in a bid to engage with the "anti-union" delivery giant's employees.

The Unite union was promoting ways people working for the online behemoth can get in touch with issues.

The Action on Amazon campaign claims the firm is "anti-union".

The company has a giant warehouse in Hoo, part of its network across the country.

Unite executive officer Sharon Graham said: “Action on Amazon campaigners were at the cathedral to spread the word Amazon workers can contact us confidentially by calling the hotline."

The Hoo warehouse made headlines last year with locals reporting how HGVs were making their lives a misery.

Drivers were also accused of urinating and defecating in public spaces.

An Amazon spokesman said: "The fact is we already offer our employees excellent pay, excellent benefits and excellent opportunities for career growth, all while working in a safe, modern work environment.

"Our competitive wages start at £9.70 or £10.80 per hour depending on location, and we’d encourage anyone to compare this to the wages and benefits offered by other retailers.
