Video footage has emerged of a callous dog owner abandoned his pet in a country lane.
It was put on Facebook by Medway Council’s stray dog service and shows a man pull up in a van in a quiet country lane in High Halstow, Rochester.

He apparently then throws the dog out of the van before driving off leaving it there.
It happened earlier this month and the footage, which has been watched more than 16,000 times, shows the black and white Staffordshire bull terrier running after the man as he gets back into the van.
The dog then runs after the van as it drives off.
The white sign written van has S and H written on it.
The dog, a female who is about a year old and has been named Cleo, is now being cared for by kennel staff and has needed to visit a vet since it was found as one of its eyes clouded over.
The vet has told council staff that the dog has suffered some sort of trauma to the eye, which is why it has clouded over.

A spokesman for Medway Council said: “We would like to speak to the man in the CCTV footage as he might have information that could help with our investigation.
“Unfortunately she was not chipped so we have been unable to identify her rightful owner.”
