Wainscott Bypass A289 blocked after crash between van and car

The Wainscott Bypass is fully open after a crash between a van and a car.

The accident took place on the eastbound carriageway of the A289, just past the turnoff for the A226, Gravesend Road.

Traffic was earlier queuing and a passerby said vehicles are being diverted off at the slip road and back on after the junction.

It is thought a black transit van and a small hatchback car were involved.

A crew from Strood fire station were called out to the A289 at about 7.20am and said a the van, a VW Transporter ended up on its side as a result of the collision.

No one suffered any injuries during the smash and firefighters made the scene safe and left.
