Ex Gills keeper found not guilty of brandishing sword

Former Gills keeper Stephen Bywater has been found not guilty of swinging a sword above the heads of two delivery men.

The 36-year-old was accused of brandishing the weapon during an altercation at his home in Nether Alderney, Cheshire, last year.

He denied the offence and was cleared at Chester Crown Court today - two days before his birthday.

The goalie, who now plays for Burton Albion and won six under-21 caps for England under Howard Wilkinson and David Platt, was on loan at Gillingham until January 2015.
