An interactive workshop will be educating children about the Windrush generation.

Medway Culture Club is hosting an online event telling the story of people arriving in the UK from the Caribbean between the 1940s and 1970s.

The session will cover some of the cultural influences which the immigrants brought with them and how they have helped diversify society.

Beginning with ice-breaker practical activities, the workshop will be an interactive multi-media lesson aimed at five to 11-year-olds.

This session will be delivered via Zoom on Saturday and family participation is welcomed.

The club was formed with the aim of tackling social isolation and encouraging racial harmony across the Towns.

Camealia Xavier-Chihota, a 36-year-old who works in the fashion industry, is one of the volunteers.

Jason Warner, a secondary school teacher, will be hosting the session, but Camealia will be reading from Floella Benjamin's book, Coming to England.

Floella Karen Yunies Benjamin, is a Trinidadian-British actress, author, television presenter, singer, businesswoman and politician.

Her book is about the hopes, fears, and pain she experienced when leaving the Caribbean for an unfriendly new life in England.
