South East Water to carry out ‘vital’ work on A228 between Halling and Peter’s Bridge roundabout

Five weeks of work to make “vital” improvements to the water system are to take place along a major route and could see some lane closures.
South East Water has earmarked the verge along the A228 between Halling and the Peter’s Bridge roundabout near Wouldham as the location for a new water meter and pressure release valve.
It is part of a £100,000 investment. Initial works were carried out in June and the water company is now looking to continue from Monday (October 30).
The job is set to last five weeks and though most of it will be conducted on the verge next to the road, project manager Jeremy Dufour has warned a lane may need to be closed.
He said: “Adding this new equipment to the network is a vital project to ensure that there is sufficient flow of water to the area and that pressure can be maintained as the community grows.
“We’re aiming to keep the work to the verge but we may need to close one lane on the approach to the roundabout if required to ensure the safety of the public, motorists and the company’s workforce.”
