A rugby club has caused a social media stir by posting a video of a freak injury suffered by one of its players.

Medway RFC's Sean Marriot suffered a facial wound in a game this weekend - and as the video below shows, he experienced quite the side-effect.

Sean took a swig of water from a bottle - before blowing the liquid out of a fresh wound below his lip.

His club posted the video with the simple message: 'Injury of the week.' By Sunday evening it had been liked almost 6,000 times.

It also attracted more than 100 comments, including one from Scott Fears who joked: "Nasty scratch. Blob of vass and straight back on?'

The video has gone viral

Despite the bizarre injury, the club said it had enjoyed 'a fantastic weekend of rugby', including a big win over Edenbridge in the Kent Rural 4 league.
