A woman who crashed her 4x4 vehicle into another was found to be more than twice the legal limit.

Lisa Panesar was at the wheel of her Ford Ranger in Tay Close, Chatham, on March 10 when she lost control.

When police arrived, the 44-year-old was asked to do a breath test which proved positive and she was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

Panesar, of Redbridge Close in the town gave a reading of 71 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit is 35.

She was charged with drink-driving and admitted the offence when she appeared before magistrates in Medway on March 29.

James Nichols, prosecuting, said: "Police were called to a road traffic collision and the vehicle had fresh damage.

"She was fully cooperative and was asked to do a breath sample and gave a reading of 71.

"She is of previous good character and has no previous convictions."

Defending herself, Panesar said: "I am very sorry. It is out of character for me. I was having a bad time but that's no excuse.

"I had wine with my lunch. I've learnt the hard way I suppose."

Magistrates banned Panesar from the road for 12 months and fined her £150 and ordered she pay a victim surcharge of £60 and £85 costs.
