Eriks Urtans in court after woman seriously injured in crash in Stevens Close, Chatham

Detectives investigating an incident in which a woman was seriously injured after apparently being hit by a car are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The incident happened in Chatham, on Wednesday, September 17, but details have only just been release by police.

Police say the woman, who they are not naming, suffered serious injuries after she was allegedly involved in a collision with a blue Mercedes Benz in Stevens Close, just off Magpie Hall Road.

The incident happened between 5.30pm and 5.50pm.

Detectives have carried out a number of lines of enquiries and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw the woman or vehicle in the area at the time of the incident.

Eriks Urtans, 34, previously from Chatham, has been charged with wounding with intent in relation to the incident.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on September 27, where he was remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court next Friday, October 17.
