A cancer survivor who once posted her reconstructed breasts on Facebook has hit out after a photo of a nipple put up by a fellow sufferer was removed by the internet giant.

Mel Price, from Rochester, was reacting after the social media site took down an image showing a rash around Rowena Kincaid’s nipple which had been a first sign of the disease.

The decision brought back memories of five years ago when Ms Price had her account suspended after showing her breasts on the site, for the same reason – it was deemed to be nudity.

Ms Price said: “It seems in today’s society seeing a woman’s breasts is unacceptable.

“It doesn’t seem to matter what the intention or purpose of the photo was for in the first place. If Facebook deems it as nudity you get it taken down.”

The picture of terminally-ill Ms Kincaid, from Cardiff, was seen by 72,000 people in its first two hours.

Ms Price, 45, said: “I am totally behind Rowena for showing her nipple and the signs of cancer that most people don’t know about.

“We are living in a society where breastfeeding is frowned upon and where ladies fighting cancer cannot show their battle scars.

Ms Price, who is also a dedicated cancer charity fundraiser, is also organising a jumble sale later this year to raise money for North Kent Breast Cancer Group and is looking for donations to help boost her efforts.
