Work has begun on a building at the Dockside Outlet Centre to make room for another cafe or restaurant to open.

Shoppers will have seen white fenced off area between Chimmichanga and Choice where building work has begun.

Planning permission was granted on August 1 for the 298 square metres one storey building.

In November, the council approved an application to build a smaller unit at just 232 square metres .

The design and access statement reads: “The public seating areas are arranged on the south and west side of the proposed building to enable them to benefit from the southerly open aspect.

“The proposed unit has been designed with large amounts of glazing on the south and north elevations to allow views through the building.

“In terms of materials a similar palette of materials to what has already been used elsewhere in the dockside development area.

“The proposed external materials are to be predominantly timber cladding, with aluminium shop front. The feature piers to the south east corner of the development are to be finished with smooth white render.”

They have been given permission to open between 7am and 11pm Monday to Sunday.
