A young boy has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car.

At around 3.15pm yesterday, police officers were called to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian in Gardiner Street, Gillingham.

South East Coast Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance Kent Surrey and Sussex also attended and the injured boy, was taken to a London hospital.

A SEACamb spokesman said: "Ambulance crews attended and were joined at the scene by the air ambulance service.

"The boy was treated at the scene before being airlifted to King's College Hospital with potentially serious injuries."

A witness, who did not wish to be named, said: "The boy looked like he was about four to five years old and a woman in her 40s or 50s hit him.

"My sister said the boy came to pet her dog and the next moment she heard a loud scream."

Inquiries remain ongoing and anyone with information who is yet to speak with an officer, including motorists with dash cameras, is asked to call the police on 01634 792209 quoting 28-0610.
