Yyoung people looking for work, or trying to choose a career path as youth unemployment continues to rise, can get advice and information at a careers day.
The charity Medway Youth Trust is organising the convention and hundreds of students will be going along on Wednesday. They will have opportunity to meet and talk with employers, universities and training providers.
The event will provide information, advice and guidance on careers ranging from accountancy to health care and engineering to hair and beauty.
MYT chief executive Graham Clewes said "With rising unemployment among young people and growth in the economy very flat, it is absolutely vital that we create opportunities for young people across Medway and further afield to meet with employers, universities and training providers face to face, give them chance to ask questions, develop new ideas and raise aspirations."
Shadow chancellor Ed Balls branded Medway's rise in youth unemployment as terrible when he met jobless teenagers in Chatham last month.
In Medway, the number of young people claiming Jobseekers' allowance for more than six months has more than doubled since January and stands at 740.
The convention, which is free to attend, is being held at the Pilkington Building on the Universities at Medway site, Chatham Maritime between 10am and 6pm. The first two hours are for year six pupils in primary schools only. Organiser Nadia Shalan said "As they approach transition to secondary school, it is a great time to stimulate their interest and excitement about their future".

Meanwhile, Medway Youth Trust has won two national awards to mark the way it puts young people at the heart of its organisation.A silver Hear by Right award and a Matrix award were collected at a National Youth Agency Ceremony by Rosie Smith and Aaron Purcell, both 17.

The charity, based in New Road, Chatham, has just celebrated its third anniversary and is enjoying increasing success.
