Chatham man charged after person taken to hospital with head injuries after group disturbance in Meadowbank Road

A man was taken to hospital after allegedly being struck with an object following a serious assault.

Police were called to an incident in Meadowbank Road, Chatham, at around 3.30pm on Sunday (March 30).

It’s reported that an altercation involving several people led to a man being struck over the head with the object.

When officers arrived a man was arrested and taken into custody.

The victim of the assault was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital for further medical attention. He has since been discharged.

Since then, Ashley Richardson, of Luton Road, Chatham, was later charged on suspicion of wounding with intent.

The 40-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
