Two volunteer medics were assaulted by drunken yobs in the line of duty.
First-aiders from St John Ambulance were on hand to treat any casualties during the Rochester Sweeps Festival.
The two workers needed treatment after being attacked on their way to treat a casualty on Saturday evening.
The incident happened at 6.15pm outside the City Wall wine bar.
They were called to treat a 23-year-old man with head injuries. On their way to treat the patient a female volunteer was shoved to the ground. Her male colleague who attempted to come to her aid was kicked in the stomach.
Two men were arrested on suspicion of assault. One was released without charge. The other is due to appear before Medway magistrates later this month on a public order charge.
Anyone with information about the incident should call 01634 891055 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
