A thug who attacked and robbed a man out celebrating his birthday after they spent the evening together in a pub has been locked up for six years.
Lithuanian Deividas Radvila turned on Lance Buck as they walked home at night, stamping on his face and knocking out six teeth, before stealing his phone and wallet.
Mr Buck had been to Churchills pub at The Brook in Chatham with friends on September 30 last year for his 25th birthday.
Radvila, 20, wished him happy birthday and offered him a drink and a cigarette.
Mr Buck told a jury at Maidstone Crown Court in April he had eight or nine pints of lager during the evening.
“There was random chat and joking,” he said. “He was being very polite.”
When they left the pub Mr Buck said he went to a petrol station in Dock Road to get £200 from a cash machine. He bought four beers “to round the night off”.
But there was an argument about drinking them so he decided to go home to Rochester. Two friends left and just Radvila remained.
“When we reached City Way he asked me where an alleyway led to,” said Mr Buck. “He took a step back and punched me in the face.
“I went down. He stamped on my face twice. There was no one else around. I passed out for about 15 seconds.
“He went through my pockets. He took my phone and my wallet with £200 in it.
“I was shocked. I was a bit dazed where I had been hit so hard in the face and stamped on.
“I realised he had run through the alleyway. I went home. I lost six teeth. The side of my face was bruised. I had a very sore neck.
“I went to A&E and had an X-Ray. They said it was just bruising. I had to have dentures.”
Radvila, of Scott Terrace, Chatham, denied robbery but was convicted. He admitted assault causing actual bodily harm.
He still denied stealing from the victim when he appeared for sentence.
Judge Philip St John-Stevens said Radvila used gratuitous violence on Mr Buck, leaving him in need of reconstructive surgery.
“It no doubt caused him psychological harm,” he added.
Speaking after the case, investigating officer, DC Mark Silk of Kent Police, said: “The victim had been on a night out, celebrating his birthday with friends, when Radvila mercilessly attacked him.
“He clearly had no regard to what impact his decision to stamp on the innocent victim’s head several times was, displaying a real lack of remorse.
“His actions were cowardly, completely unwarranted and could have led to a more serious outcome for both the victim and Radvila.
“The fact he went on to perform another sickening act, kicking a man repeatedly while he was down, means taking him off the streets will prevent him from carrying out any further violent attacks.”
