A woman was taken to hospital after an awning outside a coffee shop fell on her.

It happened at 1.45pm this afternoon outside Costa Coffee in Gillingham.

Bobby Lockwood, who was walking past after it had happened in the High Street, said: "There was one woman bleeding from the head and staff were doing first aid.

"It looks like it hit one person.

"The wooden cladding or facade also had nails poking out of it."

One ambulance and a response vehicle attended and treated the woman at the scene before taking her to Medway Maritime Hospital.
