A comedian has been warming up for his gig in Medway by sharing gags on social media community groups, with the responses arguably funnier than his posts.
Omid Djalili is touring the UK and is due in Chatham next week with his latest show - Namaste.
In one Facebook group, he joked: “I said to a bloke in Chatham, ‘Can you tell me the quickest way to Rainham? He said, ‘Are you walking or driving?’ I said, ‘Driving!’ He said, ‘That’s the quickest way!’”
Several people responded to his post, with one saying: “Omid, you might be a famous comedian, but this group is for telling people Lower Rainham Road is closed again, and asking people to pick up their dog sh*t, thanks.”
Another replied: “I think you'll find walking is quicker at the moment with the roadworks.”
One person added: “Very funny but what time does big Tesco open?”
In another post this week, Omid said: “I went to buy some camouflage trousers from Big Tesco the other day but I couldn't find any.”
Omid, who has been doing stand-up for nearly 30 years, will be performing at The Central Theatre next Friday (February 7).
He will also be visiting Maidstone, Canterbury and Tunbridge Wells as part of the tour, which began at the start of the month.
Speaking about his new stand-up show, he said: “Well, I’ve always tried to be nice about people but this time I can’t. The world is in such a terrible state.
“At the end of the day, the whole purpose of comedy is not just making people laugh. That’s not the end game.
“There’s always going to be a little bit of singing and dancing, but it’s mostly a systematic look at the state of the world and a systematic look at myself.”
The comedian has recently starred in the film Journey To Bethlehem and in the series The Change on Channel 4.
He also hosted two series of Winning Combination on ITV1.
