A motorcyclist was killed in an accident at a busy junction.
The incident happened at North Dane Way and Lords Wood Lane in Lordwood.
Police say a grey Nissan X-Trail was in collision with an orange KTM 390 Duke motorbike yesterday at 6.05pm.
The 36-year-old male motorcyclist died at the scene and his next of kin have been made aware.
The air ambulance landed nearby.
Officers from the serious collision investigation unit are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
In particular they would like to hear from anyone who witnessed either vehicle leading up to the collision.
Also anyone who has dash-cam camera footage of the vehicles in the moments before the incident.
They are extremely interested in hearing from a witness who was driving a white car who may have stopped at the scene.
While investigators were at the scene, emergency crews were called to a second unrelated incident nearby.
Police and fire attended a single-vehicle crash in Lords Wood Lane just before 9pm.
There were no injuries reported.
Chatham MP Tracey Crouch has released a statement about the fatal accident after being contacted by people over safety concerns.
She said: "There are many who are understandably concerned about the safety of this particular junction but at this moment in time we need to allow the police to conduct their investigation and remember a young man has tragically lost his life and my immediate thoughts are with his family and friends."
