Body found on construction site

A PUB car park was sealed off by Kent Police today after the discovery of a body.

Detectives say the body was found at about 5am next to the White Horse public house on the corner of Rainham High Street and Station Road.

The discovery was made by a security guard working on a construction site next to the pub’s car park. Building work is taking place next to the pub on a new medical centre run by the Medway Primary Care Trust (PCT).

Forensic officers carried out a fingertip search of the scene, but it is not known at this stage if the death was suspicious.

Police would not confirm whether the body was male or female. A spokesman for Medway Police said: “I can confirm a body was discovered on a construction site in Rainham High Street.

“At this stage officers are still making their inquiries and it is too early to say whether or not the death is suspicious. The area is sealed off and officers are at the scene carrying out their investigations.”
