He gave a speech and held a question and answer session covering issues including security, Russia and Brexit.
In a post shared on Twitter by Avenue Tennis, Mr Johnson congratulates owner, Colin Jarvis, on the facility.
He said: “What an amazing facility this is, providing a colossal opportunity for anyone wanting to learn tennis, weightlifting, God knows what else, fitness all thanks to Colin. Congratulations.
“An incredible vision and I’m really thrilled to be here. You’re going to find some champions.”
When he was asked by Mr Chishti, who recently became Vice Chair of the Conservative Party for communities, if he would come back to play, he replied: “I’d love to play but I can’t play tonight.”
Avenue Tennis celebrated its first anniversary this month.
It opened after Mr Jarvis spent £8 million converting the 44Two Sports and Social Club into a state-of-the-art tennis.
The venue has since been named Kent Club of the Year at the Kent LTA Annual Awards Dinner earlier this month.
