A boutique salon offering wigs and prosthetics to people affected by hair loss through cancer and other conditions has opened its doors.
Cleopatra’s Legacy in High Street, Chatham is aimed at providing wigs, hair products, breast forms, mastectomy wear, and personalised fitting services in a compassionate and safe environment.
The company also seeks to educate the community on the importance of early detection, particularly within the BAME community, to improve health outcomes.
Launching officially today (June 7) at 3pm, the community interest company says the specialist boutique salon is dedicated to supporting individuals dealing with hair loss, health issues and navigating their cancer journey.
Located on the same premises as the well-known family salon business, Cleopatra’s Beauti Spot, it hopes to provide a comfortable atmosphere for visitors, similar to a hair salon.
It also aims to address the challenges of sourcing essential products and services and alleviate stress, restore confidence, and promote resilience and dignity among its clients.
In the future the company hopes to work with hospitals and the NHS, offer mental health support, expand the services to private hospitals, and increase awareness through workshops and community events, engaging with schools to educate younger generations.
Founder Desiree Nurse said: “Legacy offers an extensive selection of mastectomy bras, prostheses, wigs, headscarves, and other essential items, all carefully curated to meet the unique needs of those facing these personal challenges.
“In addition, Cleopatra’s Legacy provides personalised fitting services and private consultations for wigs, bras, and breast forms, to ensure each client receives the utmost care and attention.”
She added: “Our mission is to create a safe place where people can feel understood, supported, and beautiful.
“We understand the emotional and physical toll that mastectomy and hair loss can take, and we are committed to helping our clients regain their confidence and sense of self.”
