A boxer became angry with his girlfriend and grabbed her round the neck after she vomited at a railway station.
Wesley Hammell, from Medway, was with his partner at Sittingbourne Railway Station and both were intoxicated, a court heard.
His girlfriend started being sick on the platform, but instead of taking care of her, her 43-year-old partner started shouting and then raised his fist “as if to hit her”.
The incident was witnessed by others and caught on CCTV. Hammell also grabbed her around the neck during the incident.
Hammell, of Meadowbank Road, Chatham, was later charged with assault and admitted the offence when he appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on September 18.
James Nichols, prosecuting, told District Judge William Nelson the incident happened on September 16.
Mr Nichols said: “The victim vomited and this angered him and her grabbed her round the neck and then raised his fist as if to hit her.
“He has a long history of violence and domestic violence convictions and is a professional boxer.”
Judge Nelson decided to order a pre-sentencing report on Hammell and remanded him in custody until then.
Judge Nelson said: “I am remanding you in custody. She needs to be protected and the public need to be protected.”
Hammell will be sentenced at the same court on October 12.
