Medway Park is set to stage the Towns’ first professional boxing show in 13 years next month.

A host of Kent boxers are being lined up, with unbeaten Chatham heavyweight Tom Dallas topping the bill.

Dallas’ manager Mark Roe has been organising the show, planned for November 20, after his summer outdoor event in Lordswood was abandoned because of a licence problem.

Roe said: "It’s been hard work to get to this stage and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that there are no problems. If it goes well, then we can look at making this a regular thing."

Fight promoter Frank Maloney is expected to join Roe in staging the event which could attract up to 1,500 people.

The event has been dubbed the ‘Men of Kent’ show as Roe is looking at getting the likes of Swanley’s unbeaten welterweight Martin Welsh and super bantamweight Crayford’s Lewis Pettitt on the bill.

The Black Lion Sports Centre was the venue the last time Kent had a show of substance when Johnny Armour, the then European bantamweight title holder, beat Anatoly Kvitko.

Dallas could be paired with Paul Butlin for the contest, a boxer who has been competing against some big names.
