John Street in Rochester ‘taped off’ after teenager stabbed

A 16-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after being stabbed near the town centre.

Police were called to John Street, Rochester, just before 8.30pm last night to reports someone had been assaulted.

The teenager was found with stab wounds, which aren’t described as life-threatening, before being taken to a London hospital.

Earlier today, a 17-year-old boy from Dartford was arrested on suspicion of assault.

One woman who was at the scene wrote on social media how she helped the young boy.

“I was there, he seemed to be fine when I was holding pressure on the wound for him,” she said.

“Most of the street was taped off he’s in hospital now.”

An ambulance spokesman said: “SECAmb were called at 8.32pm yesterday evening to reports that a person had been assaulted in John Street, Rochester.

“Crews assessed and treated a 16-year-old male at the scene before taking him to a London hospital for further medical treatment.”
