A teenager who died after falling ill at a party at a house in Gillingham, has been named as Brandon Davies.

Brandon, 16, taken to hospital after being found in a critical condition at the house Priestfield Road, during the early hours of Saturday, October 24.

It is understood the teenager was celebrating at a party being held at the house when he was taken ill.

After he was taken to hospital by ambulance it is understood medical staff called in police because his condition was so serious.

On the Saturday afternoon, officers said they were investigating what had happened at the address, but were not treating the incident as suspicious.

A police officer was on guard outside the terraced house for most of the day.

At the time, a police spokeswoman said: “Police are investigating following a report of concern for the welfare of a 16-year-old boy.

“Officers were alerted to the incident at around 4.20am.”

It is understood the house is a shared accommodation property where tenants rent out rooms and Brandon, who lived in London, died at Medway Maritime Hospital, on Monday, October 26.

Neighbours in the street said they knew nothing about the incident and one woman said she only realised something had happened when she spotted the police presence outside.

The woman, who didn’t want to be named, said: “It was in the early hours of the morning and we never heard anything. It is sad to hear the boy had died.”

Last week a police spokeswoman confirmed Brandon’s death was not being treated a suspicious.

A spokeswoman for the The Coroner’s Office said earlier this morning an inquest into his death had been opened and adjourned and a post-mortem showed the cause of his death was Irreversible Cerebral Hypoxia (irreversible lack of oxygen to the brain).

She added: “An inquest will be held in due course with the provisional date being January 27, 2016.”
