Boys arrested after crash

Two teenagers have been arrested after a crash involving a moped in a supermarket car park.

The 16-year-old, from Rainham, and the 15-year-old, from Hempstead, were both taken to Medway Maritime Hospital after the crash in one of the Hempstead Valley Shopping centre car parks, in the early hours of Saturday.

Police were called at about 4.50am and a cordon was in place until midday.

It is believed the boys, who were reportedly not wearing helmets, hit a speed bump and were thrown from the bike.

The scooter was still on its side close to the shopping centre's food hall on Saturday morning.

The boys were released from hospital with one having thought to have suffered a broken arm.

They were arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent.

They have been released on bail to return to Medway Police station on Wedensday, February 17.
