Little Milly Johnson will soon be jetting off for a magical dream holiday thanks to the Medway Messenger.
Earlier this year Milly’s parents, of Peal Close, Hoo, appealed for readers’ help to take her to Disney World.
In January, the four-year-old underwent a four-hour operation – known as a hemispherectomy – to disconnect half her brain.
Milly has been recovering well and mum Maria and dad Simon wanted to give her an extra special treat.
The Johnsons received £900 from the Family Fun Trust towards Milly’s dream holiday, but needed to raise another £5,000.
Following an article in the Medway Messenger, donations came flooding in, and in just six months the family has collected the cash they need.
Milly will soon be jetting off to the Florida resort with her family.
Maria, 35, said: "Milly is very excited. She will meet all the characters she loves and adores so much. She talks about Mickey Mouse non-stop.
"When she watches her Disney films, Milly points to the picture of the Disney castle which comes up at the start and says ‘Me, me!’"
Milly, who attends Little Saints Nursery in Hoo, suffered a stroke when she was two, leaving her with a severe form of epilepsy, which can cause up to 10 seizures a day. Since the surgery Milly has not suffered a single seizure.
Maria said: "Both myself and Simon would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported, helped and donated money to make this dream holiday of Milly’s come true.
"It would have not been possible without the help of the Medway Messenger readers, local businesses, friends and family. We can’t thank everyone enough."
