A group had to be thrown out of a boxing match after a security guard’s car window was smashed in a brawl at Priestfield Stadium.
Billy Palmer, from Hoo, was working at the Ultra White Collar Boxing event at the stadium in Redfern Avenue on Sunday when a fight kicked off outside the ring between what he described as 20-30 fans.
The 31-year-old said: “It was a flash in the pan. One of the men kicked off and we restrained him.
“It only lasted about three minutes and most of the people involved were trying to help security.
“One of my colleagues was pinned underneath someone and had to go to hospital to have his head glued, but there were no serious injuries.
“It’s been blown out of proportion.”
But when the dad-of-three went back to his car after his shift, at around 11pm, he found that the passenger side window of his silver Vauxhall Astra had been smashed.
Boxing fan Gary Heap, 25, was also at the match.
He told MailOnline: “I was watching with a few friends and suddenly a huge fight broke out.
“It just suddenly erupted - at least fifty people were punching and kicking each other.
“It was absolute carnage and so brutal. One guy kept kicking and punching another under the table.
“I just saw him covered in blood - he was a complete mess.
“Everyone thinks they’re Rocky when they’re drunk don’t they?”
A spokesman for Ultra White Collar Boxing said the organisation had hosted events in 30 locations across the country last weekend without incident.
She added: “The incident at Priestfield Stadium was an unfortunate and isolated incident which was defused within minutes by the security team.
“Our events over the weekend raised over £500,000 for Cancer Research UK and the 60 participants who took part in our event at Priestfield Stadium raised over £13,000 for the charity.
“Ultra White Collar Boxing as a whole has raised over £7.6 Million for Cancer Research UK since 2013 and last year we saw 14,000 participants get fit, raise money and box at a glamorous event.
“We take health and safety very seriously and adhere to strict guidelines at all of our events.”
A spokesman for Gillingham FC, which runs Priestfield, hit back at the report on MailOnline, dismissing claims the brawl had been "absolute carnage".
A statement said: "We regularly host boxing nights in our great hall, and the incident reported... is an isolated event.
"The vast majority of attendees to such nights behave in a safe and sensible manner; as a club we don't condone such behaviour or violence of any kind.
They dismissed claims the fight was a "mass brawl" involving around 50 people.
The statement continued: "In fact, the handful of people involved in this minor incident were promptly ejected from the venue, thanks to the actions of our security staff."
