A woman from Medway could be crowned Britain's best bridesmaid later this month.
Angela Bubb, 32, who is from Gillingham, was nominated by her sister-in-law, Chelsea Hathaway-Barrett, for selflessly overcoming a terrifying medical situation to fulfil her bridesmaid duties.
Mrs Hathaway-Barrett and her party flew to Turkey for her wedding, however, just four days before the nuptials, in September last year, disaster struck.
The guests began to succumb to a mysterious illness and the bride was left wondering if her Mediterranean wedding would ever go ahead.
To make matters far worse, with just two days to go, Mrs Bubb slipped and fell seriously injuring her head.
In hospital she was diagnosed with a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain, but after staying on a ward for just one night, she was discharged on the eve of the wedding.
She went on to perform all of her bridesmaid duties with a smile, wowing her worried bride.
Mrs Hathaway-Barrett, added: "I thought she wouldn’t make it to my wedding let alone be a bridesmaid, but she didn’t just attend the wedding she walked down the aisle as my bridesmaid and stood there through all the photos with a smile on her face even though she was in so much pain."
The story, thankfully, has a happy ending. Mrs Bubb discovered that she was pregnant and is due in June.
The search for the country's best bridesmaid began when travel experts, Red7, launched a competition earlier this year.
Mrs Bubb is one of seven finalists across the country to be in with a chance of winning the title, she has already been crowned south east region winner.
If she is crowned the overall winner, which will be decided on Friday, March 23, she will win a four-night short cruise break to explore Bruges and Amsterdam in June.
