A motorway slip road remains closed for a third day and warned it could remain so for a week as repairs to a bridge are yet to be completed.
Drivers have faced long tailbacks on the London-bound carriageway of M2 following work by National Highways to fix a damaged bridge joint on the Medway Viaduct.
The exit slip road is closed at J2 A228 Sundridge Hill (Strood/Rochester).
One of the three lanes is also closed after J3 and heading towards J2.
The closures have been in place since Tuesday afternoon.
It had been hoped the work would be completed but due to a delay in parts being delivered, but now National Highways are saying the delays could extend into late next week
A National Highways spokesman said yesterday (September 13): “Contractors are waiting for parts to be delivered so that we can repair the joint.
“This is expected to remain the same until our contractors have the parts, which are being sourced from abroad and aren’t expected to arrive in the country until late next week
“The closures remain in place while National Highways contractors assess the infrastructure defect.
“Any repair will be done overnight when traffic levels are lowest.”
