There were long tailbacks after a car broke down near a busy tunnel earlier.
The vehicle became stranded about 100 metres after the Medway Tunnel (A289), Gillingham-bound during rush-hour.
It was causing major disruption for commuters trying to leave the nearby Medway City Estate, in Strood.
One driver said it had taken them 40 minutes to move just half a mile.
A police car was parked behind the broken-down vehicle and at this point only one lane was open.
