While millions of fans can't get enough of Bruce Springsteen, who is the Boss listening to himself? Hendrix, the Stones, Clapton?

No, a guy from Medway.

When the rock legend was asked during a recent interview about what music he was listening to these days, his reply was simple: "Pete Molinari – and if you don’t know anything about him, he’s great".

Medway-born Molinari started his musical career by recording his first album in Billy Childish’s kitchen. But feeling restricted in the Towns, he moved to America and from there he went on to gain critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic.

Now the country blues singer is returning to his roots for a special performance at The Central Theatre.

Growing up in Chatham, Pete had an odd childhood. While his friends were listening to Nirvana and Oasis, and his brothers were out playing football, Pete developed a deep infatuation with Billie Holiday, John Coltrane, Leadbelly and Bob Dylan, and then decided to devote his life to art.

Speaking about growing up in The Towns he said: "I’m very nostalgic about it. My family coming from the Mediterranean also gave my home environment a strange mix of cultivation.

"Of course after a certain time and development one looks for other shores and I needed more than what the Towns have to offer on a cultural level, but that said, it always holds a special place because it is simply the place I know best."
